David Gibbons, LCPC, is an integrative psychotherapist and former parish priest specializing in grief and loss, life transitions, depression, and anxiety. He is currently completing advanced training to become a Jungian Analyst, and draws on clinical training, pastoral ministry, and depth psychology to help clients discover their spiritual center and reconnect with their truest selves.

My Approach to Counseling and Psychotherapy

Life is the great teacher. Our ability to explore where we've been — and what we're going through now — reveals our deepest selves to us. If you're reaching for your highest potential, your soul's identity, your truest sense of being, I would be honored to walk alongside you in that discovery.

I work as an integrative psychotherapist, drawing on a variety of therapeutic modalities tailored to each client's needs, and I specialize in grief and loss, life transitions, depression, and anxiety. I am also in advanced training to become a Jungian Analyst, a discipline devoted to the lifelong process of individuation — becoming a more whole and integrated person. As an experienced parish priest in the Church of England and the Episcopal Church USA, my ministry has focused on helping people define their spiritual center — the place from which everything else flows — so they can become more grounded, effective members of their families and communities.

The pain of this world, and of this current moment, reminds us that we are not fully in control. Yet within each of us lies a great inner strength — one capable of transforming both ourselves and the world around us. That inner strength is what I hope to help you discover.

History and Credentials

Born in London, England, David originally trained as a mathematical physicist before pursuing a theology degree at Oxford, where he retrained for ordained ministry. He went on to serve as a parish priest in both the Church of England and the Episcopal Church USA. For David, science, spirituality, and psychology are essential threads of human experience — and it is in their intersection that one's understanding of the meaning of life emerges.

David later trained at Loyola University Chicago's Institute of Pastoral Studies, earning his MA in 2015 and interning at the Alexian Brothers Center for Behavioral Health. He has been a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in the State of Illinois since 2016, first practicing at Barrington Center for Counseling and Psychotherapy from 2016 to 2020 before establishing Mandala Counseling Services in October 2020.

Since 2018, David has continued his training at the Jung Institute of Chicago, working toward becoming a certified Jungian Analyst.
